But due to lack of concrete and motorable road to reach the village, the ambulance could not reach Dabirighati. The vehicle could reach only till Chachraguda village, which is located about seven kilometers from Dabirighati. In such a situation, the family and villagers together arranged for a tractor. The pregnant woman was taken on a tractor towards Chachraguda, where an ambulance was waiting. Although the path was long and difficult. During the journey, the woman’s labor pain intensified and before reaching the hospital, she gave birth to a baby girl on the tractor.
The problem has persisted for years
This incident has shocked the local people. Villagers complain that the road problem has persisted for years, but till now no permanent solution has been found. The situation becomes even more serious during the rainy season, due to which people face difficulty in accessing many essential facilities including health services.
The condition of both mother and newborn is stable.
After the birth of the girl, the mother and the newborn were taken to Maidalpur Community Health Center in Navrangpur district through an ambulance from Chachraguda. After giving first aid there, both of them were referred to Navrangpur District Headquarters Hospital for better medical facilities. The condition of both mother and newborn is currently stable and their treatment is going on. Both are healthy under the supervision of doctors.
This incident brings to light not only the problems of one family, but the reality of hundreds of rural families who are still deprived of basic facilities like roads. In emergency situations, people’s lives can be in danger due to not getting timely medical help. In such a situation, this incident once again highlights the need for better roads and health facilities in rural areas.
