New Delhi: Big news related to Indie Alliance is coming. Actually, there will be a meeting of INDIA Block in Delhi on 30th September to corner the government on the issue of SIR and CEC Gyanesh Kumar. In this meeting many issues including revelations on SIR and Election Commission will be discussed. It is being told that all the parties of INDIA block are in touch with each other on this issue. Let us tell you that in the Congress Working Committee meeting on 29th September, Congress will prepare further strategy on the issue of SIR. This proposed meeting is taking place at a time when there is increased coordination among the opposition parties on the Commission amid reports of differences within the Election Commission over some aspects of the SIR process.
Opposition parties can come together
Sources said that the parties are in touch with each other on this issue and are discussing taking some action together. CPI(M), CPI and CPI(ML)-Liberation have demanded the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and immediate stoppage of SIR, while the Congress has also stepped up its attack on Kumar. The Congress Working Committee meeting is scheduled to be held on September 29, in which its strategy on this issue will be discussed. These developments have also brought together West Bengal’s bitter political rivals – Mamata Banerjee-led TMC and CPI(M) – on the issue of the Election Commission.
Notice can be presented in Parliament
CPI(M) general secretary M.A. Baby wrote to the INDIA Bloc and other opposition leaders asking for a meeting on these developments and later spoke to Banerjee, who agreed that the situation required joint action. Opposition parties are preparing a fresh notice for the removal of CEC Kumar, which is likely to be tabled in both houses of Parliament after scrutiny from legal experts. This will be the third such attempt from the opposition.
What does the Election Commission say on SIR?
Let us inform that on the matter of SIR, the Election Commission has said that different opinions and comments are a normal part of institutional deliberations and stressed that its orders have full legal recognition and they follow legal procedures. Earlier, 23 political parties and an independent MP had jointly approached the Chief Justice of India on the SIR process and other election-related issues, indicating the opposition’s broad alignment on the issue.
