Mangaluru: A major case has come to light near Mangaluru, Karnataka. On Wednesday, a massive explosion occurred in the premises of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) near the city, causing chaos in the surrounding areas for some time.
The blast occurred inside the MRPL premises and its impact was felt at many nearby places. The intensity of the blast was so great that the administrative office building of Mangaluru International Airport at Bajpe as well as houses and buildings in Jokatte and surrounding areas shook.
The effect was visible till the airport office
Due to the intensity of the blast, the windows of the administrative office of Mangaluru International Airport started shaking vigorously. It is being told that this incident caused panic among the staff and other people present at the airport for some time.
The impact of the blast was also felt in Jokatte village adjacent to the MRPL complex. The doors and window glasses of Jokatte Gram Panchayat office and nearby houses were also broken.
After the explosion, a plume of black smoke started rising into the sky from the MRPL unit and this smoke was visible from several kilometers away.
MRPL informed that the explosion occurred in the CHT unit.
According to the local police, 8 people have received minor injuries in this incident. An MRPL official said that a contract laborer suffered 35 percent burn injury in this accident.
Earlier, on Monday evening (21 September 2026), a fuel tank caught fire in a tire factory in Kanpur Dehat, UP and there was a massive explosion. Two laborers had died in this incident. This incident created a stir in the area and several fire brigade vehicles had to control the situation with great difficulty.
It is noteworthy that on many occasions it has been found that due to non-compliance of rules, explosions occur at such places, for which workers have to pay with their lives. In such a situation, it is important that all the rules and guidelines are followed.
