Rajiv Verma, who was seen in the role of Salman Khan’s father in ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’, has been a well-known name in Bollywood. Why did Rajiv Verma leave Bollywood?
While talking to ‘Dear Generation’, Rajeev Verma explained his career and the reason for staying away from the acting industry. Rajeev has worked with many such artists in the industry, who later became big stars. Rajeev Verma, who has shared the screen with Aamir Khan, Salman Khan to Akshay Kumar, said that as time passed, he started getting bored in his work. At the same time, he also wanted to spend time with his family. In such a situation, he returned to his home town Bhopal to live a peaceful life and spend time with his family.
Runs hotel-theatre in Bhopal
Rajeev Verma now lives with his family in Bhopal, where he runs a hotel and theatre. During this time, Rajiv Verma also talked about his career and also shared an anecdote related to ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’. The veteran actor says- ‘Maine Pyar Kiya was my first film. But, by then I had become a famous face on TV. Before Maine Pyar Kiya, I had done TV shows like ‘Chunauti’ and ‘Mujrim Hazir Ho’. Nowadays, most people recognize me as Salman Khan’s father in ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’. Often people say to me, ‘Oh you were in Salman Khan’s film, right?’
Acting along with job
Rajiv Verma further says – ‘I never thought of working with big stars. Many actors with whom I worked went on to become big stars. In the initial years, I was balancing acting with my job. This continued for about 10 years, I continued acting along with my regular job. But, then I completely turned to acting in 1996. But, after acting for years, I lost my enthusiasm. One reason for this was that I played the role of a rich father in ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’ and most of the film makers started seeing me in a similar image. I was being offered the same type of roles again and again.
Rajiv Verma is the brother-in-law of Amitabh Bachchan.
Let us tell you, Rajeev Verma has a very close relationship with the Bachchan family. Actually, Jaya Bachchan’s sister Rita Bhaduri is married to Rajiv Verma. Due to this, he became the brother-in-law of Amitabh Bachchan. Rita herself stays away from films and limelight, but Rajeev Verma has been one of the most famous actors of the industry and has worked in films ranging from ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ to ‘Himmatwala’, ‘Koi Mil Gaya’, ‘Chalte Chalte’.
