There is great news for the youth who dream of starting a startup in the capital Delhi. Delhi Government has approved the new ‘Delhi Startup and Incubation Policy’. Under this policy, a provision of more than Rs 400 crore has been made to strengthen the startup ecosystem. The objective of the government is to provide a better environment to the youth to develop new ideas, start businesses and become employment generating entrepreneurs.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that through the new policy, Delhi will be made the country’s leading startup and innovation hub. The government wants better coordination between education, research and industry, so that youth can get the necessary support to pursue their new business ideas. This will make it easier to start new startups and entrepreneurs will also get institutional support.

Youth will get new opportunities

The objective of the new startup policy is not only to start new businesses, but also to make the youth not employment seekers but employment providers. The government believes that a strong startup ecosystem will increase investment, establish new industries and create thousands of employment opportunities.

Delhi will be made the center of education and innovation

The government also clarified that continuous work will be done towards making Delhi a national hub of education and startups. Emphasis will be laid on connecting universities and educational institutions with industries, so that students can get an opportunity to get involved in atropreneurship and innovation while studying.

Atal canteen will start from 16th August

The Chief Minister made another big announcement for the students of Delhi University. Atal Canteen will be started in the DU campus from August 16, where students will get nutritious and filling food for just Rs 5. Apart from this, there is also a plan to increase the routes of ‘U Special’ buses and develop better hostel facilities for the convenience of the students.

Focus on innovation will increase in universities

Delhi University administration has also laid emphasis on setting up business incubators in colleges, so that students can convert their new business ideas into startups. This initiative of the government and universities is being considered an important step towards making Delhi a strong center of education, research and acroentrepreneurship.
