Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor on Tuesday. The length of this expressway, connecting Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, is 213 km, which has been built at a cost of Rs 12,000 crore. This 6-lane access controlled high speed corridor will reduce the travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from 6 hours to 3 hours. This expressway will provide seamless connectivity between Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. This expressway will start near Akshardham Temple in Delhi, which will pass through Baghpat, Baraut, Muzaffarpur, Shamli and Saharanpur of UP and end in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand.

Keeping in mind the ecological sensitivity of this expressway, rich biodiversity and wildlife, this corridor has been designed with several features. To ensure unhindered movement of wild animals, several wildlife conservation facilities have been included in the project. These include the 12 km long Wildlife Elevated Corridor, which is one of the longest corridors in Asia.
