Enjoyment of crores of mobile users, Airtel, Jio, Vi, BSNL can launch cheap recharge

3 Min Read

Airtel, Jio, BSNL and Vi can launch cheap recharge plans for crores of mobile users in the country. These cheap recharge plans can be launched for less than Rs 200. Recently, the Telecom Authority has prepared the draft of the Telecom Consumer Protection Regulation Bill 2026. For this, suggestions have been sought from stakeholders. This bill will be brought for cheap mobile recharge plans. TRAI says that mobile has now become a means of necessity, due to which its access can become affordable for everyone and people can avail telecom services cheaply.

Cheap recharge plans will be launched soon

According to the reports coming out, telecom operators Airtel, Jio, BSNL and Vodafone Idea have started preparations for this. In the coming few days, these four telecom operators can launch cheap voice and SMS only plans for the users. However, even at the beginning of last year, all telecom operators had launched voice and SMS only plans. These plans were launched for 84 and 365 days.

According to TRAI’s Telecom Consumer Protection Regulation Bill 2026, telecom companies should launch cheap monthly plans. Voice and SMS only plans launched last year are only Rs 100 to 200 cheaper than regular data plans, due to which users have to spend more. Not only this, telecom operators have also launched plans with less data in this price range, due to which most smartphone users opt for data plans only.

TRAI’s new recommendation

According to the new bill, TRAI has recommended telecom operators to launch special tariff vouchers, in which only voice and SMS facilities can be provided. This special voucher should be cheaper than the regular plan. The existing voice and SMS only plans are expensive, due to which not all users are getting the benefit. The Department of Telecommunications wants transparency in mobile recharge plans so that users do not have to buy forced bundles. Telecom companies and stakeholders have been asked to comment on this proposal by April 28.
