Himachal Direct flight service is going to start from the state capital Shimla between Delhi and Dharamshala. Direct flight services between Shimla to Delhi and Dharamshala will start from this month. Let us tell you that Himachal Pradesh Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Alliance Air to start daily flight service on Delhi-Shimla and Shimla-Dharamshala routes. This information was given by Tourism and Civil Aviation Director Vivek Bhatia on Monday.

Regional air connectivity will be strengthened

Vivek Bhatia said that the objective of this step is to promote tourism and strengthen regional air connectivity. So that a direct air connectivity can be established between the national capital Delhi, Himachal Pradesh capital Shimla and Dharamshala. He said that 48-seat ATR 42-600 plane will be used in these services starting from Shimla to Delhi and Dharamshala. “Commercial operations are likely to begin in the last week of April, 2026,” he said.

Himachal Pradesh government had announced in January this year

Let us tell you that at the end of January this year, Himachal Pradesh government had announced financial assistance of Rs 31 crore every year to start regular flight service on Delhi-Shimla and Shimla-Dharamshala routes. A spokesperson of the Himachal Pradesh government had said that these flights will operate daily. He had said that tourism can play an important role in strengthening the economy of the state as well as creating jobs and self-employment opportunities for the youth.

Administrative functioning will be strengthened

The introduction of direct flight service from Shimla to Delhi and Dharamshala will reduce travel time, improve accessibility and ensure smooth mobility for tourists, businessmen as well as locals. The spokesperson had said that the availability of reliable air services to Shimla and Dharamshala will strengthen the administrative functioning, make it possible to transport serious patients to hospitals quickly by air route and ensure timely and effective action during emergencies and natural disasters.
