The Indian star batsman, playing his first ODI match since July, scored a brilliant half-century against West Indies at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. With this innings, he had two big achievements to his credit. Kohli overtook Sachin Tendulkar for scoring the most 50+ scores in ODIs against non-Asian teams. Apart from this, he also touched the figure of 15 thousand runs in 50 overs cricket.

Virat hit fifty in 40 balls

In the first ODI against West Indies, Kohli showed a glimpse of his old style from the very beginning. He took the innings forward by running fast between the wickets and scoring runs by sending the ball into the gap. In no time the 37 year old batsman completed his half-century in just 40 balls. He achieved this special milestone by hitting a six in the 27th over against Alzarri Joseph. With this half-century, Kohli broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record of scoring the highest score of 50+ in ODI against non-Asian teams. Kohli now has 96 fifty plus scores in his account against non-Asian teams.

Reached the figure of 15 thousand runs in ODI

One of the biggest achievements of this half-century inning of Virat Kohli was completing 15 thousand runs in ODI cricket. He achieved this feat as soon as he reached the score of 59 runs. In this way, he became only the second batsman in the world after Sachin Tendulkar to complete 15 thousand runs in ODI. He is the batsman to do this in the fewest innings. He broke Sachin’s record. Sachin had completed 15 thousand ODI runs in 377 innings. At the same time, Kohli did this feat in just 303 innings.
