Cyclone ‘Arnab’ that emerged from the Bay of Bengal may have weakened, but its effects are still visible in many states of the country. After the rains in Delhi, people have got relief from the heat, but the situation has worsened due to heavy rains in many states including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh. Even today the Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert in many states.
The 14 states where rain alert has been issued today are Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
Situation worsened due to heavy rain in Uttar Pradesh
Uttar Pradesh It has been raining intermittently for about 60 hours in many cities of India. There are reports of 13 deaths in separate accidents, while there is a threat of flood in 32 districts. Heavy rains have been recorded in 63 districts of the state, due to which normal life has been affected.
Due to heavy rains in Lucknow, a part of the historic gate collapsed in Hussainabad area of the old city. This is a very crowded area and traffic also passes through here. However, there was less crowd at the time of the accident, so no one was injured. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot and closed the road by placing barricades.
In Lucknow itself, a tree fell on a car near KKC, due to which the car got damaged. At the same time, an incident of tree falling on a car was also reported in Baradari Model Town area of Bareilly. This entire incident was captured in CCTV. In the video, a woman is seen saving her life by running away as soon as the tree fell.
Heavy rain alert continues even today in more than 20 districts of Uttar Pradesh. However, there is a possibility of improvement in the weather after the next 24 hours.
Special surveillance is being done in the districts bordering Nepal. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed the rescue teams to remain on alert mode. DM and other officials have been asked to reach the affected areas and provide immediate help to the people.
Its effect was visible in Lucknow also. Amidst heavy rains, DM and Municipal Commissioner visited the city and took stock of the waterlogged areas. Officials were instructed to make necessary arrangements.
Waterlogging from Kanpur to Gorakhpur
Due to continuous rain, many areas of Kanpur are flooded. At the same time, torrential rains accompanied by strong winds in Gorakhpur on Saturday exposed the condition of the drainage system. Roads and markets were submerged in water and at many places rain water entered houses and shops.
Gorakhpur MP Ravi Kishan visited the flood affected areas and assured help to the people.
There has also been heavy waterlogging on the Ganga Expressway in Unnao. Traffic was affected due to water accumulation of about three feet near the toll gate. The traffic speed slowed down due to water logging near Bashiratganj also.
Meanwhile, Akhilesh Yadav shared the picture of submerged Ganga Expressway on Twitter and targeted BJP.
Alert in Bihar also
Bihar The administration is on alert in view of the forecast of heavy rain. In view of the heavy rains in the Terai region of Nepal, special caution is being taken in Bihar. An alert has also been issued regarding rain in the catchment area of Gandak river. A high-level review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit. In this, DMs of 17 sensitive districts joined through video conferencing and reviewed the preparations to deal with floods. NDRF and SDRF have been instructed to remain fully alert.
Rivers in spate in Chhattisgarh
In Chhattisgarh too, the situation has worsened due to continuous rain. Due to the rains for the last five days, small and big rivers and streams are in spate. At some places the roads are submerged in water, while at some places the fields and houses are flooded.
Due to the rise in the water level of Kharun river in Raipur, flood water has reached the low-lying areas. Raipur-Jagdalpur National Highway is also flooded, due to which people are facing problems.
Indravati river is also in spate in Bastar. After heavy rains many villages were flooded. People trapped in low-lying areas were evacuated to safe places with the help of NDRF.
Relief and rescue underway in Sikkim
After the cloudburst in Sikkim, relief and rescue work is going on in the affected areas. The soil and debris accumulated in Rimbi area is being removed. About 36 to 37 families have been affected here and some houses have been completely destroyed.

While rain and floods have increased the problems in the plains, snowfall has started along with rain in the hilly areas.
It is raining intermittently in many areas of Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Snowfall has started in high altitude areas. The temperature has dropped in Hemkund Sahib due to continuous snowfall. Cold has increased in Kedarnath Dham also due to rain. Due to rain and snowfall, Chardham Yatra has been stopped for two days.
Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh has also received the first snowfall of the season. There is news of damage to apple crops due to snowfall in Koonochrang-Chitkul area. Fresh snowfall continues on the higher peaks, while rain continues in the lower areas.
