BAN vs AUS: Another exciting series has been announced for cricket fans. In June, the Australian team will tour Bangladesh, where a fierce limited overs clash will be seen between the two teams. This tour is going to be special in many ways, because it will also start preparations for future big tournaments. A series of 6 white-ball matches will be played between Australia and Bangladesh in June, which includes three ODIs and three T20I matches. This entire series will end within 13 days, giving both the teams a chance to play consecutive matches.
Australia’s Bangladesh tour will start from Dhaka
The series will begin with the ODI matches in Dhaka, which will be played on June 9, 11 and 14. After this, the matches for the T20I series will shift to Chittagong, where three matches will be played on June 17, 19 and 21. However, the timings of all the matches have not been officially announced yet. In view of the ongoing energy saving schemes in Bangladesh and fuel shortage due to the West Asia crisis, it is likely that the matches may be played during the day.
In the recently started series between Bangladesh and New Zealand, the timing of the matches was postponed to reduce the use of floodlights. In such a situation, a similar change can be seen in this tour of Australia also. Talking about the T20 format, this will be Australia’s second bilateral T20I series in Bangladesh. Earlier in the five-match series played in 2021, host Bangladesh had won 4-1. Australia last toured Bangladesh in 2011 in ODI format.
Mitchell Marsh will take command of the team
Talking about the team combination, Mitchell Marsh is captaining Australia in T20, while the official captain in ODI is Pat Cummins. However, in recent times, in the absence of Cummins, Marsh has also taken charge of the ODI team. Before this tour, Australia has to play a three-match ODI series against Pakistan, which may clash with the final phase of IPL. This series against Bangladesh is also considered an important step towards the preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup. Apart from this, in 2026, Australia also has to play ODI series against Zimbabwe, South Africa and England.
This series will also be the beginning of a new cycle for Australia in the T20 format, which includes big tournaments like the 2028 Olympics and the 2028 T20 World Cup. The special thing is that Australia and New Zealand will jointly host the 2028 T20 World Cup. At the same time, Bangladesh team will go on Australia tour in August, where two test matches will be played in Darwin and Mackay. In this way, the excitement of cricket between the two teams is going to continue in the coming months.
