These include the two most successful teams of IPL, Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. Under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Chennai Super Kings first made the record of winning two consecutive IPL trophies.
Chennai Super Kings won their first title by defeating Mumbai Indians in the 2010 final. After this, in 2011, she became champion for the second consecutive time by defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore. CSK came close to defending the title in 2019 too, but lost the final against Mumbai Indians by just one run. Mumbai Indians is the second team to win two consecutive titles in IPL. Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, Mumbai won the trophy for the fourth time in 2019 and then won their fifth IPL title in 2020 by defeating Delhi Capitals in the final.
Gujarat can also repeat the feat of 2022
Gujarat Titans had created history by winning the IPL trophy in its debut season in 2022. In 2023, the team came very close to becoming champion for the second consecutive time, but lost to Chennai Super Kings on the last ball of the final. Now after three years, Gujarat has reached the final for the third time and has a golden chance to win the second IPL title. This match to be held in Ahmedabad will not only be the final of IPL 2026, but will also be an opportunity to create history.
