10 sacks full of ganja caught in Hyderabad, smugglers were taking it from Odisha to Pune in a lorry; Eagle Force caught 2 smugglers

Telangana EAGLE Force seized 237 kg of ganja worth Rs 1.18 crore from a lorry container on NH-65. This ganja was being taken from Odisha to Pune via Hyderabad. Two alleged transporters from Bihar and Pune have been arrested in this case. In fact, on receiving credible information, the State Task Force of Telangana EAGLE Force and the team of Rachakonda Narcotics Police Station conducted an operation near YNR Function Hall on Vijayawada-Mumbai Highway NH-65 and recovered ganja from a lorry container.

Promise of smuggling of ganja taken in return of financial help

Let us tell you that the accused Rajesh Kumar had gone to Mumbai in 2015 and was earning his livelihood by driving a transport lorry. Whereas, the second accused, Anil Ranganath Bichare, is a resident of Pune, Maharashtra and works as a labourer. About 7 months ago, Rajesh Kumar met Suresh Kedari and Dharam Shinde, who used to bring ganja from Odisha and sell it in Pune and Mumbai. During this time, Rajesh Kumar expressed his desire to buy a second-hand lorry container to Suresh Kedari and Dharam Shinde. Both of them promised him financial help to buy a lorry container and in return asked him to transport ganja from Odisha, to which he agreed.

Ganja was being transported from Odisha to Pune.

About four months ago, Rajesh Kumar bought a second-hand lorry container. When Rajesh Kumar was short of money, Suresh Kedari and Dharam Shinde also gave him Rs 3 lakh. Anil Ranganath Bichare was working with Suresh Kedari and Dharam Shinde for the last 2 years and was helping them in transporting ganja from Odisha to Pune. On July 7, Suresh Kedari and Dharam Shinde gave Rs 1 lakh 50 thousand to Rajesh Kumar. Of this, Rs 70 thousand were as commission and Rs 80 thousand were for traveling expenses.

If ganja is not found then keep waiting for 2 days

Rajesh was asked to meet Pavitra Kumar Sabar alias Pitambar Sabar in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. Then, poor Anil Ranganath also went with Rajesh Kumar. After this, on July 11, Rajesh Kumar and Anil Ranganath Bichare reached Vijayawada and unloaded Finolex PVC pipes at the airport. After this, he along with Pavitra Kumar Sabar alias Pitambar Sabar went to Gunpur village in Raigarh district of Odisha and waited for two days. As ganja was not found there, Pavitra Kumar Sabar alias Peetambar Sabar advised them to return to Visakhapatnam and wait for two more days.

Eagle Force seized 10 bags of ganja

Then, on the night of July 14, Pavitra Kumar Sabar alias Pitambar Sabar came in a four-wheeler and handed over 237 kg of ganja in 10 sacks to him. When Rajesh Kumar and Anil Ranganath Bichare were going to Pune via Hyderabad, the Eagle Force of Hyderabad stopped them. Initially both the accused tried to mislead the police and told a false story that they had only gone to Visakhapatnam. But call detail records of both of them revealed that they had gone to Gunpur village in Raigarh district of Odisha.

The accused confessed to hiding ganja in the cabin of the lorry.

When the arrested accused were interrogated about the difference in their statements and CDR, they finally confessed to hiding the ganja in the cabin of the lorry container. For the last few months, Eagle Force was keeping a close watch on the smuggling of ganja from Odisha to different parts of the country and was successful in stopping this smuggling. In the last two months, Eagle Force seized approximately 1,500 kg of ganja, which was being transported to different places in India.

Police busy in locating the absconding accused and the entire network

The accused have been taken into custody and a case has been registered under Cr.No.12/2026 at Rachakonda Narcotics Police Station. Further investigation is underway to nab the absconding accused and break this network. Another case related to ganja was also reported earlier from Sangareddy district of Telangana, when goods worth Rs 70 lakh were seized from a temple priest who was growing ganja among marigold plants.
