News of a major accident has come to light from Urni area of Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. On Tuesday morning, an iron bridge in the area suddenly collapsed like a house of cards. When this accident happened, a dumper was passing over the bridge. As the bridge broke, the dumper also fell straight down. The matter is of Tuesday morning. However, there has been no news of any casualty in this accident. Now CCTV footage of the bridge collapse has also surfaced. However, the dumper driver is completely safe in this terrible accident.

Local people said that they saw the bridge collapsing with the sound of a bang. Seeing this scene, an atmosphere of panic was created among the people present at the spot. However, there has been no official confirmation of any loss of life so far, which is a matter of great relief. After the incident, the administration has stopped the movement of vehicles on this route as a precaution. Let us tell you that Choling Bridge is located about 24 kilometers before the Ekangi area. This bridge connected Kaza of Lahaul Spiti and Shimla district to Kinnaur. Due to the breakdown of this bridge, connectivity between three districts has been affected.
Accident happened due to overloading
Whereas NHAI Bhavanagar Assistant Engineer Umesh Larju said that the movement of overloaded vehicles was restricted on the bridge. For this, proper warning boards were also installed. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the bridge collapsed due to an overloaded dumper laden with sand. The loss of crores of rupees is being estimated in this accident.

CCTV footage of the accident has also surfaced. The damaged bridge and falling down can be seen in the video. It can be seen that at the time when the bridge fell down, a dumper was also going on it. In the video, another dumper is seen going just before that. Meanwhile, as soon as the second dumper passed, the bridge collapsed and fell down.

As soon as information about the incident was received, the team of Tapri police station left for the spot. Due to the breakdown of the bridge, the administration has made changes in the traffic system in the area. Travelers going from Rampur and Shimla towards Reckong Peo, Kalpa, Sangla and other areas of Kinnaur can now reach Choling via Chagaon-Urni link road from Tapri and rejoin NH-05. Whereas vehicles going from Kinnaur to Shimla and Rampur will be able to travel further after reaching Tapri through Choling to Urni-Chagaon link road. (Input- Kapil Thakur)
