Paresh Rawal claims that the original story and idea of ​​’OMG 2’ was actually his, which he developed along with director Amit Rai. The actor expressed grief that neither was he given credit for the story nor was his name included in the concept of the film. He also told that after actor Akshay Kumar joined this project, the entire story of the film was changed, due to which he himself distanced himself from the film.

In an interview with Vicky Lalwani’s YouTube channel, Paresh Rawal revealed the original story he had thought of. Paresh told that his original version was completely based on the drama of a father and son. It was to show sex education, social stigma and the struggle of a helpless father fighting for justice for his child. According to Paresh Rawal, there was no character of God or any other divine power involved in this story. Also, he never thought of it as a direct sequel to ‘OMG’ (Oh My God). He told that the story revolved around a school boy whose personal video is recorded and made viral. After this, the society ostracizes the child and his father fights a legal battle against this shame imposed by the society.

Many veterans of the industry knew the truth

Paresh Rawal expressed deep disappointment that despite creating this excellent concept, his contribution was completely ignored. He said, ‘The saddest thing is that I was not given any credit for the story or its idea. My name was not there anywhere. The veteran actor claimed that many big names in the film industry knew very well where this story came from. He said, “Amit Rai, Akshay Kumar, Ashwin, Ajay Devgan, Karan Johar and Salman Khan, they all know that this was my idea and my story. Ajay Devgan and Salman Khan probably refused to do this project because of its bold subject and potential controversy, even though I tried my best to explain the concept to them.”

This is why Akshay Kumar’s offer was rejected

Paresh Rawal told that when this script was completely changed, Akshay Kumar himself approached him to work in the film, but Paresh Rawal clearly rejected the offer because it was no longer the film which he had written with great passion. Recalling the conversation with Akshay, he said, I talked to Akshay. He requested me to do the film, but I told him, ‘No, this is not the film I had imagined. God had no role in this story of mine. Akshay tried to convince me, but I lived with this script from the beginning. I knew how it was supposed to be, so I respectfully distanced myself from it'” Ultimately, Pankaj Tripathi replaced Paresh Rawal as the father, while Akshay Kumar appeared as Shiva’s messenger.
