There is a continuous debate on the dispute that took place in the Gurudwara located in Nagarasu in Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. The situation became such that police, ITBP and army personnel also had to be deployed on the spot. According to PTI, some Nihang Sikhs had climbed the third floor of Nagarasu Gurdwara on Saturday evening. During this time, the police, district administration and Gurudwara management committee were continuously talking with the Nihangs. During this time, news related to the capture of the Gurudwara and someone being taken hostage had also come out, which was clearly denied by the police. Now Garhwal Inspector General Rajeev Swaroop has issued a statement regarding this entire incident and has told the truth of the entire controversy.
Why did the dispute happen?
Big information has come to light regarding ‘Nagrasu Gurudwara controversy’ in Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand. Dismissing the misinformation being spread about Nihang Sikhs, Garhwal Inspector General Rajeev Swaroop said, “The incident initially started as a dispute between the Nihang devotees and the management of the gurdwara where they were eating langar. After the argument, the management called 112, on which the police immediately responded. On seeing the police, some Nihang devotees got scared and locked themselves on the roof of the building. Took several rounds of talks with him.”
‘Mutual dispute between Nihang devotees’
Garhwal IG Rajeev Swaroop said, “This is mainly a mutual dispute between the Gurudwara management and the Nihang devotees who had come there, and the special thing is that the management members are also from the Nihang community. Our District Magistrate (DM) and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) immediately reached the spot, talked to them and pacified them.”
The situation is completely peaceful- IG
IG Rajeev Swaroop said – “Now the situation is completely peaceful. We are closely investigating the circumstances under which rumors were spread on social media and this incident was wrongly linked to the previous clash at Karnaprayag. This misinformation was deliberately spread with the evil intention of creating confusion and hampering the Char Dham and Hemkund Sahib Yatras. The matter is being thoroughly investigated and strict legal action will be taken against those responsible.”
