With the beginning of Kanwar Yatra 2026, lakhs of Kanwariyas are likely to pass through the capital. In view of this, Delhi Traffic Police has issued a detailed traffic advisory. There is a possibility of increased traffic pressure and jam on many major roads. In such a situation, before leaving home, definitely check your route information, so that you do not get stuck in traffic for hours on the way.

According to Delhi Traffic Police, many major routes may remain affected due to the movement of Kanwariyas and setting up of Kanwar camps along the roads. Prominent among them are Najafgarh Phirni Road, Rohtak Road, Pankha Road, Dev Prakash Shastri Marg, Nangloi-Najafgarh Road and Outer Ring Road. Traffic in these areas is likely to be slow and jams may occur.

Routes fixed for Kanwadis

To make the journey smooth, separate routes have been set for the Kanwariyas on foot.

• Rohtak Road Route: Zakhira – Madipur – Peeragarhi Chowk – Nangloi Chowk – Mundka – Tikri Border.
• Najafgarh Road Route: Zakhira – Uttam Nagar – Najafgarh Phirni Road – Jharoda Border.
• outer ring road route: Madhuban Chowk – Peeragarhi Chowk – Keshopur Mandi – Janakpuri District Centre.
• Dev Prakash Shastri Marg: Rattanpuri Chowk – Loha Mandi.

The number of Kanwadis is likely to be high on these routes, hence common motorists have been advised to use other routes.

What advice did the traffic police give?

Delhi Traffic Police has appealed to the people to plan their route before setting out on a journey and use public transport wherever possible. Avoid parking your vehicle on the roadside, as this can make the traffic jam worse. If you see any suspicious object or activity, inform the police immediately. At the same time, passengers going to New Delhi Railway Station have been advised to use the Paharganj route instead of Ajmeri Gate, so that congestion can be avoided.

Plan before leaving on a trip

During Kanwar Yatra, the traffic system in many parts of Delhi will be different from normal days. Therefore, before leaving for office, railway station, airport or any important work, definitely check the traffic updates. Leaving home early, taking alternative routes and following traffic police instructions can make your journey easier and safer.
