New Delhi: Once again a commercial ship was attacked in the Gulf area. One Indian died while 19 were saved in this attack near the Oman coast. The Foreign Ministry has condemned this attack. According to the information, the commercial ship MV Cape Dao going towards India was attacked on Wednesday near the eastern coast of Oman. One Indian died in the attack, while 19 other Indian sailors on board the ship were rescued safely. The Indian Embassy confirmed the incident and said it is in constant touch with Omani authorities.
Foreign Ministry condemned the incident
The Indian Embassy in Muscat said it is closely monitoring the situation for the safety of all crew members on board the ship. The embassy expressed condolences to the family of the deceased Indian and said that it is in touch with the family. The Foreign Ministry has also condemned this incident. According to the ministry, a total of 20 Indian sailors were on board the ship, out of which 19 were rescued, while one Indian died in the attack. The Indian Embassy is making efforts for the early repatriation of the Indian sailors in coordination with Omani authorities.
Concern expressed about attacks on commercial ships
The Ministry of External Affairs expressed concern over the continuing attacks on commercial ships in the region. India has appealed to adopt the path of dialogue and diplomacy to reduce tension. The ministry said the targeting of commercial ships, seafarers and civilian infrastructure must stop and safe and unimpeded navigation and trade in the region’s international waterways must be quickly restored.
The embassy is continuously monitoring the situation
According to the information, this attack happened when the ship was going towards India. The Embassy is continuously monitoring the situation and coordinating with Omani authorities for the safety of the crew. The Forward Seamen Union of India (FSUI) in a post on X identified the deceased as viper Suraj Yadav, a resident of Deoria, Uttar Pradesh. “Another Indian sailor has been killed,” the union said, adding that Yadav died after the MV Cape Dao was attacked while it was sailing towards India.
Danger to sailors around the Strait of Hormuz
According to the FSUI, the ship was hit by two torpedoes, one on the port side of the C-deck accommodation area and the other on the port side of the hull near the engine room. The union said the attack poses a threat to common sailors in and around the Strait of Hormuz. FSUI said, “There is no sense of trust. Innocent civilian sailors are being massacred in and around Hormuz.”
Earlier on September 13, the Indian ship MT El Gaia was attacked near the Oman coast. There were 14 crew members on this ship at the time of the attack. All the crew members were Indians. 13 crew members have been rescued while one is missing who is being searched. Meanwhile, India has strongly condemned this incident.
