In view of the increasing tension in West Asia and the situation related to the Strait of Hormuz, the Central Government has become completely alert. Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high-level meeting with senior ministers and officials on this issue. In the meeting, important issues like energy security of the country, availability of fertilizers, safety of Indian sailors and impact on exports were discussed in detail. The Prime Minister made it clear that under no circumstances will the common people and farmers be allowed to face problems.
In the meeting, Prime Minister Modi said that the safety of every Indian sailor working in any part of the world is the top priority of the government. He said that it does not matter whether he is posted on an Indian ship or a foreign ship. The government will provide all possible assistance if needed.
Important instructions given to Petroleum Ministry
The Hormuz crisis may have the biggest impact on the supply of crude oil and gas. In view of this, the Prime Minister reviewed the preparations of the Petroleum Ministry. He stressed on rapidly increasing the use of PNG in the country, so that the energy supply remains strong and the impact of any possible crisis can be reduced.
Emphasis on provision of fertilizers for farmers
Preparations in the agriculture sector were also discussed in the meeting. The Prime Minister said that sufficient stock of fertilizer is available for the next Rabi crop. Besides, the work of preparing reserve of fertilizer for the Kharif crop of 2027 is also going on. The aim of the government is that farmers should not face any kind of fertilizer shortage.
Export and economy were also discussed
The Hormuz crisis may also impact India’s export business. Keeping this in view, possible measures to provide relief to exporters were discussed in the meeting. Besides, the impact of this crisis on the country’s economy was also assessed. The government indicated that necessary steps would be taken in time if needed. The government says that it is constantly monitoring the global situation. Every aspect related to energy, agriculture, trade and security of citizens is being regularly reviewed, so that any challenge can be faced effectively in time.
