Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Sunday that based on input from central agencies, Assam Police has arrested two people for allegedly providing security related information to Pakistan. Those arrested also include a retired army soldier, who was currently working in the army on contract basis.

The Chief Minister said in the press conference that both the accused are accused of being in touch with Pakistan and sharing information related to the movement of the army. He said that both would be further handed over to central agencies.

According to CM Sarma, preliminary information has also revealed that the accused were allegedly lured through ‘honey trap’ and sensitive information was being obtained from them. A few months ago, An agent arrested from Maharashtra for running a funding network for Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI. Had happened.

STF caught Bihar resident from Guwahati

Earlier on Sunday, Assam Police said that the Special Task Force (STF) has arrested a person from Bihar living in a rented house in Guwahati for alleged espionage activities. The accused has been identified as Abhishek Kumar Singh, 31, resident of East Champaran district of Bihar. According to the police, preliminary investigation has revealed his alleged involvement in giving confidential information related to security forces to a Pakistani intelligence operative (PIO).

Initial information was received from military intelligence

According to the police, initial input about the suspect was shared with the military intelligence of Tezpur-based Gajraj Corps. After this, STF coordinated with Sonitpur Police and gathered more information about Abhishek Kumar Singh. The investigation revealed his suspicion of being involved in anti-national activities allegedly on the instructions of a Pakistani intelligence operative.

Mobile, SIM card and documents recovered

Police said that on the intervening night of October 3 and 4, Assam STF took action in a rented house in Guwahati and arrested the accused. During the search, a mobile phone, SIM card and incriminating documents were recovered from him. According to the police, further investigation is underway in the case.
