Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has ordered a vigilance inquiry into the matter related to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The case pertains to allegations of irregularities during his tenure as secretary of the state Public Works Department (PWD) in 2006. The case pertains to the suicide of Malaysian civil engineer Lee, who was associated with the PATI-BEL consortium involved in the upgradation of MC Road under the Kerala State Transport Project. The minister claimed that the name of Gyanesh Kumar was mentioned in the engineer’s suicide note.
State Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has directly instructed the Vigilance Director to thoroughly investigate all the allegations in the case related to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and take appropriate action based on the results of the investigation.
Gyanesh Kumar’s name in the complaint: Minister
Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said that yesterday Congress worker Malayinkeezhu Venugopal handed me a complaint about the irregularities and corruption that happened when Gyanesh Kumar was the PWD Secretary. Some serious issues are mentioned in this complaint. Also during this time, Malaysian project engineer Lee committed suicide. PWD Secretary Gyanesh Kumar has been clearly mentioned in the suicide note. Therefore the government cannot remain silent. I cannot be a silent spectator. I have sent it to the Vigilance Director so that he can go into the details of the complaint and take legal action to get justice.
No political vendetta
Ramesh Chennithala said that he made it clear that this is not a political vendetta. Of course, we all are protesting against the Election Commissioner. Rahul Gandhi is fighting against BJP. Gyanesh Kumar is working on the instructions of BJP and Central Government. SIR There are other issues too. We are fighting against them, but this matter is different. As a minister, it is my responsibility to go into details and if any cognizable offense has been committed, it is my duty to send it to the Vigilance Director for further investigation. That’s what I did.
Let us tell you that the opposition is continuously attacking against SIR and Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar. There have been demonstrations in many areas of the country including Delhi-Mumbai. The demonstration of Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) continues even today in Mumbai.
