Students’ trust in government broken: Priyanka

Referring to the anti-paper leak protests that took place in Delhi on July 20, Priyanka asked why security forces used tear gas shells and pellet guns against students. He asked the government, “What was the need to use pellet guns and AK-47 on the youth of the country? Were they terrorists? Who ordered the use of pellet guns? Was it the Prime Minister? Was it the Home Minister? They have to answer. The whole country is asking. It is not just about the Congress party. The whole country is asking for answers.”

There was an uproar in the House after Priyanka Gandhi’s attack on the Central Government over the appointment of Prahlad Joshi as the new Education Minister. He alleged that Prime Minister Modi “has chosen as the Education Minister a person who had agreed and expressed happiness over the release of those convicted of raping a pregnant woman.” His comments were strongly objected to by the ruling party and Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju accused him of making derogatory statements in Parliament.

Rijiju said these comments amounted to “character assassination” and demanded that they be expunged from the proceedings. “PM should change the angle of the heart, not the camera”: Priyanka

Speaking on the paper leak, Priyanka Gandhi said, “There are no concrete measures in this bill to stop paper leaks. How will this instill confidence in the youth of the country? I want to tell the Prime Minister that perhaps he needs to change his advisors. He is completely cut off from reality. Merely forming new committees will not work, no matter who heads them. Radhakrishnan Committee was also formed to improve the system, but till date not a single recommendation has been implemented.” The record of fast-track courts is already very bad. In fact, even CBI lawyers did not appear during the hearing yesterday.

Nothing will be achieved by blaming the opposition or making hollow political moves in Parliament. If you want to win back the trust of Gen Z, just making new videos from different angles on your phone won’t work. The Prime Minister needs to change not the angle of the camera, but the angle of his heart…”.
