New Delhi: Diplomatic talks between India and Iran have intensified amid increasing tension in West Asia. On Wednesday evening, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar received a call from Iran’s Foreign Minister Syed Abbas Argchi. Both the leaders discussed the current situation in detail and agreed to remain in constant touch in future also. According to the Embassy of Iran, in this conversation both sides shared views on the latest developments related to the ceasefire, bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues.
‘Discussed in detail various aspects of the current situation’
Giving information on social media platform Meanwhile, Mohammad Hossein Ziaenia, deputy representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader in India, said that every country can play a role in ending the ongoing conflict in West Asia. He said that this conflict is between ‘repression and self-defense’ and the international community needs to think seriously on it. He also said that the role of every country can be both positive or negative.
‘…can use unexpected methods’
Here, the Navy of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has given a strong warning to America. According to Iranian media, the IRGC has said that it may use ‘unexpected methods’ if tensions escalate further. Mohammad Akbarzadeh, deputy chief of political affairs of the IRGC Navy, said that if the US took any new military action, Iran would use its new capabilities.
US-Israel and Iran war started on February 28
The current crisis in West Asia began following joint military strikes by the US and Israel on February 28. Iran’s 86-year-old Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in these attacks. In response, Iran targeted American bases in Israel and Gulf countries, which has disrupted sea routes. It has also affected the international energy market and the global economy. Amidst the increasing tension in West Asia, India is continuously monitoring the situation and is active at the diplomatic level.
