New Delhi: There is relief news for the general public. The bank strike which was scheduled to last for three days from Monday has been postponed. The decision to call off the three-day bank strike was taken after a meeting between the Indian Banks Association (IBA) and the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) on Sunday. As per UFBU circular number 2026/31, a meeting was held between IBA and UFBU at 9:30 pm on Sunday night. After discussions, the strike was called off after both parties reached an agreement.
Consensus reached on these major issues in the meeting
- High Level Committee on Five Day Banking (Saturday Holiday): A high level committee of IBA and UFBU will be constituted to consider the issue of declaring all remaining Saturdays as official holidays. This committee will find a mutually acceptable solution keeping in mind the convenience of all the parties and especially the customers.
- Amendments to PLI Scheme: Amendments to the Performance Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for officers in Scale IV and above will be discussed to address the objections of the unions, which will be further proposed to the government.
- Expeditious resolution of pending issues: Talks will continue for expeditious resolution of all other pending issues listed in the Minutes of March 8, 2024.
