The dispute of theft of offerings in Ram temple of Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh has now reached the Supreme Court. A public interest litigation has been filed in the Supreme Court to conduct an impartial investigation into this entire matter. The petition demands that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) be formed under the leadership of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate financial irregularities and alleged corruption allegations related to the Ram Janmabhoomi Trust.

The petitioners have requested to immediately register an FIR in this matter and initiate legal action. An appeal has been made to the court that CBI-SIT should be directed to investigate with full transparency within a specific time limit, so that it can be clear whether there has been any misappropriation, embezzlement or corruption in the donated funds.

Two lawyers filed petition

This petition has been filed by lawyers Ajay Kumar Rai and Dinesh Kumar Yadav. The petitioners have appealed to the Supreme Court to direct the Central Government, Uttar Pradesh Government and the Trust to create a strong regulatory, supervisory and audit system, which maintains the trust of the public and millions of devotees.

“Investigation started without FIR”

The petition states that the current SIT formed by the Uttar Pradesh government has started the investigation without any FIR or regular criminal case. This SIT consisting of administrative officers may not have the special expertise to handle complex financial and criminal cases.

The petitioners argue that the matter should be investigated by an independent agency that has the necessary expertise, resources and institutional mechanisms to deal with complex financial scams, so that public confidence is maintained.

“Whether or not the reports of missing funds and other alleged irregularities relating to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust prove to be true, such reports have created deep concern among the generations who fought to restore the glory of Ayodhya,” the petition said.
