A very serious and shocking case has come to light from Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha. There was a stir in the entire office after a suspicious secret camera was found inside the women’s washroom in the DRDA i.e. District Rural Development Agency office of the district. After the incident came to light, an atmosphere of fear and anger was seen among the employees, while the police has intensified the investigation into the matter.
According to the information, Madhusmita Samantray, an employee of the Finance Department working in the DRDA office, had gone to the women’s washroom on Thursday morning. During this time, he saw a suspicious device there, which had reportedly fallen down. Seeing the device, he suspected that it might be a hidden camera. After this he immediately informed senior officials about this.
Investigation started regarding suspicious device
Seeing the seriousness of the matter, the police was immediately called. The police team reached the spot and took possession of the suspicious device and started investigation. An FIR has also been registered regarding the incident.
This matter has not been officially confirmed yet
Police are now trying to find out how this device reached the women’s washroom. The investigating officers are also probing whether the camera was actually installed there or was merely lying inside the washroom. At present there is no official confirmation whether the device was activated or not.
CCTV footage is being scrutinized
As part of the investigation, CCTV footage of different parts of the office premises is also being scrutinized to identify suspicious activities and possible accused. The police are investigating this matter keeping in mind all aspects including insider involvement.
Digital forensic team engaged in investigation
Along with this, a digital forensic team has also been deployed in the investigation. The team is trying to find out whether any video recording was done on the device and whether any kind of data was transferred anywhere.
The accused will be identified soon
Tiratol SDPO said regarding the matter that a special team has been formed to investigate. The investigation is progressing rapidly. He said that the accused will soon be identified on the basis of technical evidence and CCTV footage.
Questions raised regarding security and privacy
At present, this incident has raised many questions regarding the safety and privacy of women in government offices. Employees are also demanding a fair and strict investigation into the matter so that strict action can be taken against the culprits.
