A major action has been taken against gold smuggling at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka. Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials have busted a big racket and arrested five accused. Gold capsules and biscuits worth about Rs 5 crore were seized from them, which were hidden in private parts.

Gold was hidden in the form of paste

The arrested people are accused of smuggling this consignment into the city via Bangladesh. According to officials, the accused had hidden the gold in the form of capsules and paste. To avoid being caught, he had hidden it in the private parts of his body.

Fear of being connected to a big network

All five accused have been arrested from the airport. Further investigation is underway to unearth the large network behind this smuggling. Even before, accused involved in gold smuggling have been arrested several times in the airport. DRI and police teams are investigating all these cases.

Kannada actress’s name has also appeared in gold smuggling

It is known that in a famous case in the year 2025, DRI had seized about 14.2 kg of gold, worth about Rs 12.56 crore, from a Kannada actress at Bengaluru Airport.
