The makers were looking for a new face for the character of ‘Uttara’ at that time. Varsha’s parents were also present with her, who immediately agreed and Varsha was selected for this serial and that too without any screen test.

Varsha’s character Uttara’s entry in ‘Mahabharat’ was through a spectacular Kathak dance choreographed by Gopi Krishna and from the very first look, Varsha gained national recognition. With this, the doors of Hindi film industry also opened for Varsha. Although, Varsha started her career with Marathi theater and famous actor Sachin Pilgaonkar launched her with ‘Gammat Jammat’, but ‘Mahabharat’ made her famous overnight.
