According to the RBI calendar, there are a total of 16 bank holidays in April 2026. According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday calendar and stock exchange schedule, bank branches are closed in many parts of the country, while there will be no trading in the stock market. Know updates on stock market and MCX-NCDEX

According to the holiday calendar of BSE and NSE, the stock markets will remain closed on the occasion of Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti. There will be no business today. The country’s largest non-agricultural commodity exchange, Multi Commodity Exchange of India or MCX, will remain closed in the morning session but will resume trading in the evening session between 5 pm and 11:30 pm. The largest agricultural exchange, National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange or NCDEX will also remain closed in both the sessions. Trading will resume on Wednesday, April 15.

Banks will remain closed in these cities

Major cities where banks will remain closed on April 14 include: Agartala, Ahmedabad, Belapur, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Dehradun, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Panaji, Patna, Ranchi, Thiruvananthapuram and Vijayawada.

Bank holidays vary according to the state

Bank holidays in India are decided on the basis of state and local festivals, so banks are not closed simultaneously across the country. Banks remain closed in some cities, while normal operations continue in other places.

April 15 (Wednesday): Pohela Boishakh / Bohag Bihu / Vishu / Himachal Day – Banks closed in many cities.

April 16 (Thursday): Bohag Bihu – Banks closed in some cities
April 19 (Sunday): Banks closed across the country due to weekly holiday.

Will online services be available on Bank Holidays?

Digital services will continue to operate despite bank branches being closed. ATM services will be available 24×7. Money can be transferred through NEFT, IMPS and RTGS. UPI services will also work normally. However, for services like check deposit or cash counter transactions, you will have to wait for the bank branch to open.
