Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has taken a historic step for its players. They have decided to implement an annual contract, which will be effective from the 2026-2027 season. MCA has decided to introduce three categories Grade A, B and C for players under its contract system. Players associated with Mumbai cricket will be divided into these 3 different grades and accordingly will get a fixed amount for the year.

How much salary will the players get under the contract system?

According to the press release issued by MCA, Grade A players will get an annual payment between Rs 12 lakh to Rs 20 lakh. Grade B cricketers will be paid Rs 8 lakh to Rs 12 lakh, while Grade C players will get Rs 8 lakh every year. MCA President Ajinkya Naik says that he had earlier promised that MCA will implement the contract system and he has finalized it in the last Apex Council meeting. A lot of thought has gone into this and every aspect has been tried to be included. Not all players get a chance to play in IPL. This contract will help many of today’s players who play all formats of the game for Mumbai.

What do players have to do to join the contract system?

MCA has become the first state association to introduce a contract system for its players. However, the association has set some conditions for including the players in this contract. To enter into a contract, the player must be registered with the MCA and must also meet the minimum fitness standards set by the association. Only those players who have not represented India in any format in the last two seasons will get a place in it. In this, there will be a place for those players who have not been selected by any IPL team in the last two seasons.

Players will get separate match fees

Let us tell you that this contract is separate from the match fees received by the players. That means they will be given separate fees for the matches played in Ranji, Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Many players representing Mumbai, who have been performing well, are not part of any IPL team. To provide them some stability MCA has decided to introduce this new contract system.
