Gwalior GRP has recovered four girls from Myanmar who were being brought to India illegally from Kutupalong refugee camp in Bangladesh for marriage. Two Myanmar nationals involved in human trafficking have also been arrested in the case. According to the police, all the six arrested foreign nationals were entering India illegally. It has come to light that two of the recovered girls were minors.
Information was received from GRP Control Room Bhopal that a suspicious youth from Myanmar was traveling in the general coach of train number 12643 Swarn Jayanti Express. It was reported in the information that the young man is connected to a network that illegally brings girls to India and gets them married.
Based on the information, GRP station in-charge Deepshikha Singh Tomar along with the team conducted a checking campaign in the train. On the basis of appearance, police detained Mubeen (25), resident of Myanmar and resident of Hyderabad. Some girls were also found with him.
Police reached the rented house in Aligarh
During interrogation, Mubeen told the police that his partner Mohammad Hassan (35), a resident of Myanmar, was staying in a rented house in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh with some girls. After confirming the information, the GRP team raided Aligarh and recovered the girls from the possession of Mohammad Hasan. According to the police, a total of four girls were arrested in the operation. Information has come to light that two of them are minors.
Inquiry done through Google translator
The police faced language difficulties during interrogation as the girls only knew Rohingya and the local language. After this, the police talked to the girls with the help of Google Translator and a bilingual person and recorded their statements.
Inquiries revealed that the girls were illegally entered into the Indian border from Kutupalong Refugee Camp in Bangladesh, citing the consent of their parents, through inaccessible routes of rivers and mountains. The accused were planning to get them married in Jammu and Srinagar. According to the police, it could be an organized human trafficking network, which lures girls from refugee camps to India and trafficks them in the name of marriage.
Police have taken all 6 foreign nationals into custody and have started further legal action. Minor girls have been kept under protection as per rules. GRP says that on the basis of documents received from the accused and interrogation, other people associated with the network are being searched.
