Division of ministers’ portfolios in Tamil Nadu, CM Vijay has Home and Administration, know who got what?

Chennai: In Tamil Nadu, the newly formed government led by CM C Joseph Vijay has divided the portfolios of ministers. According to the notification issued by Tamil Nadu Lok Bhavan, Chief Minister Vijay has kept important departments like Home, Police and Public Administration with him. According to the notification, 10 ministers have been assigned their portfolios. This division of departments is another major administrative step of the new ‘Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam’ (TVK) government. This government has ended the decades-long tradition of alternating rule between DMK and AIADMK in the state.

TVK emerged as the largest party

Earlier this month, Vijay took oath as the Chief Minister. His party TVK had emerged as the largest party. It won a total of 108 seats. It had the support of its coalition partners to form the government. In this new cabinet of Tamil Nadu, portfolios of 10 ministers have been allotted. Apart from Home, Police and Public Administration, Chief Minister Vijay has also kept Women Welfare and Youth Development departments with himself. He has set up sports development as a separate ministry, which is considered different from the arrangement of the previous DMK government.

Aadhav Arjun has been assigned the Public Works Department, and will also hold the responsibility of the Sports Development Department. While K.A. Sengottaiyan has been appointed Finance Minister. KG Arjun Raj will be the Health Minister. Apart from this, departments like Rural Development, Education, Industry, Energy, Food and Civil Supplies and Natural Resources have also been allotted to other ministers.

Who got what?

  1. Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay: Will handle the responsibilities of Public Administration, General Administration, Police, Women Welfare and Youth Development departments. He has separated sports development as an independent ministry, a departure from the functioning of the previous DMK government.
  2. Aadhav Arjun: Public Works Department has been assigned, and he will also hold the responsibility of Sports Development Department.
  3. N. Pleasure: Rural Development Department
  4. K.A. Sengottaiyan:finance minister
  5. K.G. Arunraj: Health Minister
  6. CTR Nirmal Kumar: Ministry of Energy Resources and Law
  7. Rajmohan: Also got the responsibility of School Education Department, Information and Publicity and Tamil Development (including Archaeology) departments.
  8. S. Kirtana: Industry Department
  9. P. Venkatraman: Food and Civil Supplies Department
  10. T.K. Lord: Minister of Natural Resources

Let us inform that the Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) government formed under the leadership of C Joseph Vijay on Wednesday easily won the trust vote in the Assembly with the support of 25 AIADMK rebels amid the DMK walkout. The opposition accused the TVK government of ‘horse-trading’ of MLAs, which Chief Minister Vijay rejected outright. Vijay got a landslide victory in the Tamil Nadu Assembly when 144 votes were cast in favor of the government while only 22 were cast against it. All the members who voted against the Vijay government owed allegiance to All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) president and MLA Edappadi K Palaniswami. C Ve Shanmugam-SP Velumani and 25 other party MLAs voted in favor of the government.
