Shimla: The weather in Himachal Pradesh is going to take a turn once again. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning regarding heavy rain from 18 to 22 July. Red alert has been declared for July 20 and 21. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather pattern in the state will deteriorate from July 18 and heavy rains may continue till July 24.
Orange alert in these districts of the state
Shimla Meteorological Center has appealed to the people to take precautions during this period. People have been advised to stay at home and stay away from rivers and drains. Meteorologist Sandeep Kumar Sharma said that in view of the possibility of heavy rain at some places in Chamba, Mandi and Kangra on July 18, a yellow alert has been issued. He said that monsoon will gain momentum from July 19. Orange alert has been issued due to the possibility of heavy rain at some places in Kangra, Mandi and Shimla on this day.
Heavy rain forecast here
Yellow alert has been issued in view of heavy rains in Hamirpur, Chamba, Kullu, Sirmaur, Solan, Una and Bilaspur. Sandeep Sharma said that heavy to very heavy rain is forecast in the state on July 20 and 21. Red alert has been issued due to possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in Chamba, Kangra, Mandi and Sirmaur on July 20. Orange alert has been issued in Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kullu and Shimla. However, there is a possibility of moderate rain in Solan, Kinnaur and Lahaul-Spiti.
Red alert of heavy rain in these districts of the state
On July 21, red alert has been issued again for Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi and Sirmaur, while orange alert will remain in Hamirpur, Solan and Shimla and yellow alert in Una and Bilaspur. Orange alert has been issued due to possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in Kangra, Mandi, Sirmaur and Shimla on July 22. The Meteorological Department has appealed to the people to take precautions, stay away from rivers, streams and water sources and not to step out of the house unless necessary during heavy rains.
Administration on high alert, advises people to remain alert
Meanwhile, Naresh Chauhan, Principal Media Advisor to Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, said that after the forecast of heavy to very heavy rains in the next five days, the Himachal Pradesh government has put its disaster management machinery on high alert and has also appealed to the residents and tourists to remain alert during the monsoon.
