The Ministry of External Affairs has given a big update on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Project. Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that talks between India and Japan regarding the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed train are progressing well. Japan will provide E-20 series trains, but it will be available only in the early 2030s. The train being talked about is still being built. Meanwhile, construction work has progressed rapidly.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs said that the first section will be opened only in 2027. Therefore, both sides agree to start operations with the Indian high-speed train. Signaling equipment has been ordered for this and these are as per international standards. No proposal was received from Japan in this matter. The completion of the project is in line with the shared goal of starting the high-speed train project as soon as possible.

When Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal was asked about this, he said that these are the personal views of the Japanese leader. Both the countries are looking forward to starting high speed trains in India as soon as possible. There was also discussion in Japan that India has not taken the signal system from Japan, which is very important. On this Randhir Jaiswal said that Japan had not given any proposal in this matter. The signal is ordered as per international standards.
Expected to start the first train in Surat-Bilimora section
The first part of the bullet train corridor is expected to be operational in the Surat-Bilimora section in Gujarat, officials had said earlier this week. The delay has been due to land acquisition challenges and political changes in Maharashtra. However, construction of the 508 km long Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor has gained momentum in recent months, with work on bridges, tunnels and stations progressing rapidly.
