These days, people in the country’s capital Delhi are suffering from the scorching heat. Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who was on his first visit to India, could not escape the ‘high temperature’ of Delhi. The heat had such an impact on him that when he came on stage, he could not stop himself from taking a dig at the high temperature of Delhi.
During the inauguration of the new US Consulate office in Delhi on Saturday, he made such a funny joke on the scorching heat of Delhi from the stage that the people present there laughed. The video of his light-hearted style is becoming quite viral on social media.
‘I’m from Miami, I understand the heat…’
Marco Rubio laughed as he took the stage, saying, “It’s really an honor for me to be here today. I want to keep my speech short because it’s very hot in here. Really hot.” Referring to his hometown, he added, “However, it is not as humid as Miami. I am from Miami, so I know the difference between humid heat and scorching heat. By the way, what time is it? The weather should have cooled down a bit by now.”
First visit to India after becoming Foreign Minister
Rubio said he doesn’t want to keep people detained too long this summer. After this, he praised the new office and said that this facility has saved the money of the American people and the work will be better and more effective than before. This office is not only important for visas, but is also equally important for the American officials working day and night for the security of the country.
Let us tell you that this is Marco Rubio’s first visit to India after becoming the Foreign Minister. In Delhi, he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where important issues like security, trade and new technology were discussed between them for about an hour. This was the first major high-level meeting after the meeting between PM Modi and US President Donald Trump in February 2025.
