Indian Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi has described Operation Sindoor as the biggest example of India’s “smart power”. He said it was not just a military operation, but a joint national display of military precision, information control, diplomatic messaging and economic fortitude. Operation Sindoor penetrated deep into the enemy’s terrorist structures, broke the strategic thinking that had been going on for years and then was stopped after 88 hours deliberately and as per a complete strategy. According to Army Chief Upendra Dwivedi, Operation Sindoor has shown that India knows how much to use which force at what time and when to convert military action into strategic success.
The world is changing rapidly – Army Chief
Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi said, “The world is changing rapidly. Global chaos, mistrust and changing alliances are creating new challenges. It was once believed that trade, supply chains and digital connectivity would take the world away from conflict, but now these tools are being used as pressure and strategic weapons.”
India will have to lead – Army Chief
The Army Chief also emphasized on the changing nature of modern warfare. He said, “Earlier it used to take decades for new technology to reach the battlefield, but now this process is being completed in a few months. Artificial Intelligence, Cyber, Quantum Technology, Autonomous Systems, Space and Advanced Materials will decide the direction of future warfare. India should not be limited to just adopting new technology, but will have to lead the world by making it indigenous.”
Self-reliance has become a necessity: Army Chief
Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi said – “Today’s biggest strategic weakness is not just the lack of military power, but the dependence on foreign supply chains, critical minerals and digital infrastructure. Self-reliance has now become not just an economic necessity but an imperative of national security. In the 21st century, security and prosperity are no longer separate subjects. Modern conflicts not only put pressure on the army, but also affect the industry, research and administrative structure. Therefore, India will have to develop a defense industrial capability that is not only self-reliant. Not only this, but also be competitive at the global level.
At the end of his address, General Dwivedi quoted the words of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee – “Peace is not the absence of strength. Peace is the presence of capability, confidence and determination.”
