Suryapet (Telangana): A scary picture of the ongoing internal factionalism and infighting within the ruling Congress Party in Telangana has come to light today. Violent clashes broke out in Suryapet district between supporters of Nalgonda MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy and Tungaturthi MLA Mandula Samuel over the appointment of party divisional presidents. The tension increased to such an extent that the police had to resort to lathicharge to control the situation. During this period many Congress workers were injured. There are reports of policemen also being injured.
After Warangal, now infighting in Nalgonda
This ongoing discord within the state Congress has been continuously deepening for the last two days. Earlier on Tuesday, sharp differences had come to light between Congress leaders in Warangal. Today, the fight between Congress leaders of Nalgonda area (Suryapet) reached the level of bloodshed.
Controversy regarding appointment
According to the information, discussions were going on at the Aravapalli divisional headquarters in Suryapet regarding appointments to the post of divisional president of the party. Meanwhile, a heated argument broke out between the supporters of MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy and MLA Mandula Samuel. The MP’s supporters alleged that the local MLA was acting arbitrarily in appointments to the post of Mandal President and taking unilateral decisions.
After this objection, the dispute escalated so much that both the groups crossed all limits of decorum. Within no time both sides started using stones and sticks to attack each other.
Situation went out of control, lathi charge
The police force present at the spot tried hard to pacify and pacify both the groups, but when the situation went completely out of control and stone pelting intensified, the police had to use force. There was chaos during the lathi charge.
Many supporters of the MP have been seriously injured in this violent incident, while some policemen have also been injured while trying to stop the miscreants. Heavy police force has been deployed in the area and further legal investigation into the matter is underway.
