The National Testing Agency (NTA) is committed to ensuring that the NEET (UG)-2026 examination is conducted in a fair, secure manner and keeping in mind the needs of the candidates. As part of this effort, some changes have been made to suit the candidates for the NEET (UG) 2026 examination to be held on June 21, 2026. Based on the feedback received from the candidates over the past few years, the exam time has been increased to 195 minutes and will be held from 2:00 pm to 5:15 pm. This also includes the time taken for necessary examination formalities like signing of attendance sheets and other monitoring processes.
NTA has said that this change in the timing of the examination has been made so that the candidates can make full use of the time allotted for the examination and they do not feel that their chances of solving the paper are being reduced due to administrative procedures. Apart from this, space for rough work has also been increased in the question paper booklet.
Security arrangements will be unprecedented
Quoting government information, sources said that the Central Government has directed to deploy personnel of Central Armed Police Forces across the country for safe transportation and handling of confidential material for the re-examination of NEET 2026 (which is to be held on June 21). Sources said that the Home Ministry has entrusted the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) with the responsibility of providing security during the transportation of sensitive examination-related material such as question papers and post-examination OMR answer sheets.
Important information for NEET (UG)-2026 exam
- The National Testing Agency (NTA) is committed to ensuring that the NEET (UG)-2026 examination is conducted fair, safe and keeping in mind the needs of the candidates. As part of this effort, some changes have been made to suit the candidates for the NEET (UG) 2026 examination to be held on June 21, 2026.
- Based on the feedback received from the candidates over the years, the duration of the examination has been increased to 195 minutes and will be held from 2:00 pm to 5:15 pm. This also includes the time taken for necessary examination formalities like signing of attendance sheets and other invigilation processes.
- The changed duration of the examination has been decided in such a way that candidates can make full use of the time allotted for the examination and do not feel that their chances of solving the paper are being reduced due to administrative procedures.
- In addition, the space available for rough work in the question paper booklet has been increased. Now candidates will be given four pages for rough work instead of two, giving them more space to do calculations, diagrams and other work during the examination.
- Another important change relates to the design of the question paper booklet. Earlier, rough work pages were given only at the end of the booklet. While this arrangement worked well for many candidates, feedback showed that it was less convenient for some, especially left-handed candidates.
- To overcome this problem, two pages of rough work are now provided at the beginning of the booklet immediately after the instruction page, while two pages will also be available at the end. This changed layout has been included in both the English and regional language versions of the question paper so that candidates can use any page as per their convenience.
- NTA believes that even small improvements in exam design can have a positive impact on the candidates’ experience during an important examination. Therefore, these measures have been introduced with the aim of making the examination process more comfortable and candidate-friendly while maintaining the highest standards of fairness and security.
- Candidates are advised to read the instructions given in the Admit Card and Information Bulletin carefully and cooperate with the examination staff for smooth conduct of the examination. Also read:
