He was advised by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to file nomination for Rajya Sabha and take up a bigger responsibility in the party, but Siddaramaiah has not accepted it.

Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot did not accept Siddaramaiah’s resignation as he was out of the state today. However, he returned late in the evening. Siddaramaiah had submitted his resignation to Special Secretary to the Governor Prabhu Shankar at Lok Bhavan and then spoke to the press. During this, Deputy Chief Minister and probable Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and other cabinet colleagues were also present with him.
