Amidst the ongoing extreme heat in Uttar Pradesh, according to the Meteorological Department, Banda was the hottest city in the state with a temperature of 44.8 degrees Celsius. According to the Meteorological Centre, the maximum temperature in Prayagraj was recorded at 44 degrees Celsius, while in Jhansi the maximum temperature was recorded at 44.1 degrees Celsius. A temperature of 43.4 degrees Celsius was recorded in Orai and 43.2 degrees Celsius in Hamirpur.
What was the temperature in Agra, Varanasi, Ghazipur?
Other major cities recorded a temperature of 43 degrees Celsius in Agra, 42 degrees Celsius in Varanasi (BHU) and Ghazipur. The temperature was recorded at 41.7 degrees Celsius in Fursatganj, 41.5 degrees Celsius in Sultanpur and 41.4 degrees Celsius in Churk. The maximum temperature at Varanasi airport was recorded at 41.3 degrees Celsius, while in Azamgarh the mercury reached 41.2 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature in the capital Lucknow was recorded at 40 degrees Celsius.
Heat is wreaking havoc in Kanpur and Ballia also
The temperature in Kanpur city and Ballia also remained at 40 degrees Celsius, while Aligarh recorded a temperature of 40.8 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department said that the weather is likely to remain dry in the state. Also, a heat wave warning has been issued at some places in southern Uttar Pradesh. According to the Meteorological Department, the sky is expected to be mainly clear in Lucknow and surrounding areas on Sunday. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 41 degrees Celsius and 27 degrees Celsius respectively.
Extreme heat in most parts of Rajasthan
In most parts of Rajasthan, the period of intense heat has started once again due to increase in temperature from Saturday. According to the Meteorological Center Jaipur, the temperature in the state will increase once again from May 16. According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in the south-eastern parts of the state is also likely to be 44 to 45 degrees Celsius in the coming days and there is a possibility of intense heat once again.
On 16-17 May, there may be storm with thunder at some places in Bikaner division, Shekhawati region, Jaipur and northern parts of Bharatpur division. According to the department, strong winds may blow at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour and light drizzle may also occur. The weather in the state remained mainly dry in the 24 hours till Saturday morning. During this period, hot nights and heat waves were recorded at many places. The maximum temperature was 44.8 degrees Celsius in Phalodi.
