The new financial year 2026-27 is going to start and many major changes are going to be implemented from 1st April. These changes will directly impact your everyday life, spending and savings. New rules will be applicable in every sector from tax to banking, railways and gas. In such a situation, it is very important to understand these changes, so that you can be prepared in advance.

1. Income tax system became easier

Now the new Income Tax Act 2025 will come into force in place of the old Income Tax Act 1961. In this, complicated words like assessment year and previous year have been removed and only tax year has been kept. Apart from this, it will be necessary to provide PAN and rent proof of the landlord for HRA exemption.

2. Changes in Banking and Credit Cards

Information about those who spend more than ₹ 10 lakh annually through credit cards will now be given to the tax department. Many banks have also made changes in reward points and charges. Some services may incur additional charges, which may increase your expenses.

3. Digital payment will be more secure

Now 2 Factor Authentication (2FA) has been further strengthened to make online transactions secure. Along with OTP, biometric or device-based security may also be necessary.

4. Railway ticket cancellation rules are strict

Now, refund will be given if the ticket is canceled only 8 hours before the departure of the train. After this, money will not be refunded on cancellation. This means that changing the plan now may result in greater loss.

5. Expenditures will increase in stock market

Expenses are going to increase for those doing F&O trading. STT on options has been increased. Apart from this, there has also been a change in the tax rules related to Gold Bond (SGB).

6. Change in salary structure

Under the new labor law, the share of basic salary will increase. With this, you will get more PF and gratuity, but the take-home salary may be slightly less.

7. Changes in gas and fuel prices possible

Like every month, there may be a change in the prices of LPG, CNG and PNG on 1st April. This will affect your kitchen budget and travel expenses.
