Nowadays the trend of kitchen gardening is increasing rapidly. People are preferring to grow fresh and organic vegetables at home, but lack of space often becomes the biggest problem. In such a situation, if you grow two essential things – coriander and chilli – in the same pot, it will not only save space but will also easily fulfill your kitchen needs. When taken proper care, these plants grow very quickly and start looking green in a few days.

How to grow coriander and chilli in the same pot?

  • choosing the right pot: First of all it is important to choose the right pot. For this, take a pot at least 10 to 12 inches deep and wide, which must have holes for drainage. After this prepare the soil. For good growth, prepare a good mixture by mixing 50 percent garden soil, 30 percent compost or cow dung and 20 percent sand or coco peat. This mixture will provide necessary nutrition to the plants and maintain water balance.

  • seeds ready : Now comes the turn of preparing the seeds. Lightly crush the coriander seeds and divide them into two parts, this helps them germinate quickly. Whereas chilli seeds can be used directly. While sowing seeds in the pot, keep in mind that sprinkle coriander on one side and plant chilli seeds on the other side keeping some distance. After this add light soil on top.

  • Give water: After sowing the seeds, water lightly. Keep in mind that the soil should always be moist, but there should not be too much water accumulated in it. Keep the pot in a place where it can get 4 to 6 hours of sunlight daily, because sunlight is very important for the good growth of both the plants. After about 15 days, you can also add some organic fertilizer in it. Also, remove dry or damaged leaves from time to time, so that the plant remains healthy.

If cared for properly, coriander seeds begin to germinate in 7 to 10 days, while chilli plants appear in 10 to 15 days. Coriander is prepared quickly, whereas chilli plant takes some time, but together they make your kitchen garden green.
