A statement by Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt recently sparked a debate on social media and he was heavily targeted. Sanjay Dutt recently participated in Shekhar Suman’s show ‘Shekhar Tonight’, where he discussed about the current situation in the country. This episode was aired on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, in which Sanjay Dutt said that he ‘does not feel peace in India like before.’ As soon as his statement went viral, a debate broke out on social media and he started being targeted. In such a situation, the actor has now shared a post clarifying his statement, in which he said that whatever he said was in the concept of Gandhigiri and it was all scripted. He made it clear in his statement that his intention was not to hurt anyone’s sentiments.

Sanjay Dutt has shared his statement on his social media account, in which he told that whatever he said in the show was part of the script. He wrote in his post – ‘I just want to make it clear that my intention was never to hurt the sentiments of any person, community or institution, to offend them or to disrespect them. Whatever I said was already scripted. The purpose of that conversation was only to create a light and funny atmosphere.

Sanjay Dutt further writes in his post – ‘The spirit of whatever I said was exactly the same as the fun and satire seen in films like ‘Munna Bhai’, especially the concept of ‘Gandhigiri’, whose purpose was to give the message of love, belonging, solidarity and goodwill. But sadly, my words were interpreted differently. The meaning of my words was taken out of the context in which they were said.

What did Sanjay Dutt say in the show?

Actually, during the show, Sanjay Dutt was given a situation, where he was asked to address the people by considering himself as the Prime Minister of the country for five minutes. During this, he gave a sarcastic speech in the style of ‘Munnabhai’ and said – ‘There are very lovely people in this country. There should be peace here. I no longer feel the same peace in my country as before. We Indians are very big-hearted and hospitable. We have given a lot and we should always remain like that. I pray to Lord Shiva that those days come back again.

There was an uproar over the statement that he had not learned Marathi.

Recently, there was a lot of uproar over another statement of Sanjay Dutt. During a program, Sanjay Dutt was asked to speak something in Marathi. Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik also requested him to say something in Marathi, to which Sanjay Dutt said that even after being in Yerwada jail for six years, he did not learn Marathi. As soon as the video surfaced, people’s opinion on Sanjay Dutt’s statement was not the same. Some people praised the actor’s answer while some also criticized it.
