Stock Market Today 28 September, 2026: The domestic stock market started the week in the red. On Monday, the Sensex opened with a fall of 0.22 percent. Whereas, Nifty 50 started trading with a fall of 0.33 percent. In the first trading session of the week, shares of only a few selected IT companies opened with gains. Apart from this, shares of Bajaj Finance, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel started trading with losses.
Sensex opened with a fall of 161 points
In the first trading session of the week, BSE Sensex opened with a fall of 160.91 points (0.22%) at 73,734.83 points. Whereas, NSE’s Nifty 50 index opened today with a loss of 75.60 points (0.33 percent) at 23,064.90 points. Let us tell you that on Friday last week the market had closed the trading in the green mark.
Shares of 46 out of 50 Nifty companies opened in the red.
On Monday, shares of only 2 out of 30 Sensex companies opened in the green with gains and shares of all the remaining 28 companies opened in the red with a decline. On the other hand, shares of only 4 out of 50 companies of Nifty 50 opened in the green mark with a rise and the shares of all the remaining 46 companies opened in the red mark with a fall.
Only 2 Sensex stocks started positive
In the first trading session of the week, shares of TCS, the country’s largest IT company among the Sensex companies, opened with the highest rise of 0.28 percent today. Whereas, shares of the country’s leading NBFC company Bajaj Finance started trading today with the highest loss of 1.12 percent. Apart from TCS, shares of Tech Mahindra started trading today marginally higher by 0.03 per cent. Apart from these, all other Sensex stocks opened in the red.

Among the remaining Sensex stocks on Monday, HDFC Bank shares were 1.06 percent, Bharti Airtel 0.98 percent, Bajaj Finserv 0.94 percent, Titan 0.89 percent, Hindustan Unilever 0.88 percent, L&T 0.88 percent, Mahindra & Mahindra 0.88 percent, Kotak Mahindra Bank 0.84 percent, ICICI Bank 0.83 percent, Asian Paints 0.78 percent, Indigo 0.78 percent, Reliance Industries 0.78 percent, Trent 0.71 percent, HCL Tech 0.70 percent, Maruti Suzuki 0.67 percent, Power Grid 0.67 percent, Eternal 0.61 percent, BEL 0.59 percent, NTPC 0.46 percent, SBI 0.45 percent, Axis Bank Shares of ITC 0.36 percent, Infosys 0.20 percent, UltraTech Cement 0.11 percent, Sun Pharma 0.08 percent, Tata Steel 0.08 percent and Adani Ports 0.07 percent opened with a fall of 0.07 percent.
