Barber organizations have increased the prices of all grooming services including hair cutting, shaving by 20 percent. The new prices have also come into effect from Saturday, June 6. According to a PTI report, representatives of the barber organization of Maharashtra say that this decision has been taken due to the increasing cost of items used in salons. He said that due to global economic uncertainty and the ongoing tension between Iran and America, the items used in salons have become expensive.
You will have to pay Rs 180 even for a normal haircut.
According to the new rates, a normal haircut will now cost Rs 180, while shaving will now cost Rs 120. Customers who want to trim their beard will have to pay Rs 150. Head massage will cost Rs 180 and hair washing will cost Rs 120. Among premium grooming services, facial treatments will start at Rs 700, while hair spa will cost Rs 600. Officials of Maharashtra Nabhik Mahamandal said that the cost burden has increased significantly in recent months.
Usually barber organizations used to increase money at an interval of two years.
The organization says that the current conditions in West Asia and broader economic uncertainties have had a negative impact on the prices of many things required for running barber shops and salons. Because of this, salon operators had to rethink the prices of their services well before the scheduled time. Regarding this decision, Maharashtra Nabhik Mahamandal official Shyam Askerkar said, “Usually, we change the rates in January after a gap of two years. However, this time due to the huge increase in the prices of accessories and other things used in the salon, we were forced to change the rates midway.”
Barber organizations do not lead premium or luxury salons.
There are more than one lakh barber shops in Maharashtra. The new rates are expected to impact a large portion of salons across the state. However, the organization clarified that it does not represent premium or luxury salons. Such establishments usually charge very high rates, with haircut prices often starting at around Rs 500.
