Election results of four seats of Karnataka Legislative Council NDA won all the seatswhile Congress did not get a single seat. Three sitting MLCs were in the fray in the election and both the sitting MLCs of BJP were successful in saving their seats. At the same time, the defeat of Congress’s deputy leader and five-time MLC Puttana in the Legislative Council gave a big blow to the party.

JDS’s AP Ranganath won in Bengaluru Teachers constituency by defeating Congress candidate Puttana. Puttna had earlier reached the Legislative Council thrice on JDS ticket. Later, after joining Congress, he was elected MLC on the party ticket for two consecutive terms. This time, Congress was disappointed on this seat due to his defeat.

Both current MLCs of BJP saved their seats

In North East Teachers’ constituency, BJP’s sitting MLC Shashil Namoshi retained his seat by defeating Congress’ Sharanappa Mattur. Meanwhile, in West Graduates constituency, BJP’s SV Sankanur defeated Congress’s former MLC Mohan Limbikayi. With this victory, Sankanur also maintained its dominance.

BJP expressed confidence in the new face on South East Graduates seat

This time BJP did not field its sitting MLC Chidananda Gowda in South East Graduates constituency. The party fielded KM Suresh in his place. Congress was expected to win this seat, but voters chose BJP’s KM Suresh instead of Congress candidate H. Sashi.

In this way, NDA candidates won on all four seats and Congress could not even open its account. The special thing was that these elections were conducted through ballot paper instead of EVM.
