World number one tennis player Yannick Sinner has won the Wimbledon title for the second consecutive time. In the final match played on July 12, he defeated German player Alexander Zverev in a high voltage match. With this spectacular victory, Sinner has won the fifth Grand Slam trophy of his career. With this victory, Sinner has defeated Zverev for the 10th consecutive time. Additionally, he has become the 10th player in the history of tennis to win the Wimbledon title twice in a row.
Both players performed tremendously in the first two sets.
The first set of the final match was very exciting. Both the players gave a tough competition to each other, due to which the match reached a tiebreak. During this, Zverev won the first set by hitting a powerful forehand winner shot. As soon as he won this point, he celebrated with great enthusiasm. In the second set also both the players played some excellent shots. But in the last minute of the set, Zverev started looking a little frustrated. Sinner took advantage of this and took the lead in the tiebreak and won the second set. In this way the match was tied at one set each.
Zverev got injured in the middle of the match
In the third set of this match which lasted more than two and a half hours, Zverev got a chance to take the lead for the first time. But while trying to stop a drop shot from Sinner, he slipped and fell on the court. Zverev started groaning in pain holding his right knee, seeing which all the fans present in the stadium held their breath. Even after this, Zverev continued playing after getting bandaged. But in the very next game, Sinner won his service game and went ahead 5-3. Frustrated by this, Zverev angrily threw his racket on the court. Then Sinner won this third set also and took a 2-1 lead in the match.
Sinner won the last set in a one-sided manner
In the fourth set also, Sinner took a 4-3 lead by winning Zverev’s service game. After this, he did not give any chance to Zverev to make a comeback and won the match by showing excellent performance. As soon as his victory was confirmed, 24-year-old Sinner lay down on the grass of the court out of joy and celebrated becoming Wimbledon champion for the second consecutive time. Earlier on July 11, the women’s singles final match was played at Wimbledon 2026, which was won by Linda Noskova.
