The Indian team has to play its next series in international cricket in the beginning of June, in which it will have to face Afghanistan at home in Test and ODI series. Before this, everyone’s eyes are also on the fitness of the players of Team India, in which two fast bowlers Akash Deep and Harshit Rana are almost certain to be out. After the end of the series against Afghanistan, Team India has to play a limited overs series on the tour of England and Ireland and it is difficult for both these players to make a comeback in this series also.
Akash Deep and Harshit Rana are currently going through the rehab process.
If we talk about Akash Deep and Harshit Rana, both the fast bowlers have been out of the field for a long time due to injury. While Akash Deep is struggling with a back injury, Harshit Rana was out just before the start of the T20 World Cup 2026 due to a knee injury. In such a situation, regarding their return, a BCCI source told news agency PTI on the condition of anonymity that Akash Deep and Harshit Rana are currently going through the process of rehab. It will take more time for both the fast bowlers to regain match fitness. There is very little chance of both of them being fit before the Test match against Afghanistan and the England-Ireland tour. He has just started exercising, after which he will start jogging, running, sprint and then practice related to return to play.
Akash Deep can return to the field in August
Akash Deep, who is struggling with a back injury, has been an important part of the Indian Test squad in the last one year. If we look at the possibility of his return to the field, he can make a comeback in the Duleep Trophy in the month of August. Apart from this, nothing has been decided yet regarding Nitish Rana’s return to the field. In such a situation, Team India will definitely miss both these fast bowlers in the upcoming series. The Indian team has to play a one-match Test series against Afghanistan at home from June 6, while a three-match ODI series will be played from June 14 to 20. Team India will then leave for the tour of Ireland and England.
