The reality is that at present every team in the world is struggling to defeat India. Every team, not just Pakistan.
No bilateral series has been played between India and Pakistan for more than a decade. Both the teams come face to face only in ICC and Asian tournaments. Since the year 2022, India has registered consecutive victories against Pakistan. This also includes three consecutive wins in the 2025 Asia Cup and a big 61-run win in the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Pakistan team is continuously improving
Hesson believes that the Pakistan team is often judged only on the basis of its performance against India. He said that right or wrong, Pakistan is judged by how it plays against India. And at this time India is not only the best team, it is far ahead of all the other teams. In the T20 World Cup, we lost to England in the Super-8 due to Harry Brook’s century and a very close match. We had won all the matches except India.
The Pakistan head coach also claimed that the team has continuously improved under his coaching. He said that between 2023 and 2025, we could not even progress beyond the group stage in ICC tournaments. So you cannot suddenly challenge the top teams from eighth place in the world unless you start winning matches regularly. For us, going from winning about 20 percent of the matches in a year to winning almost three-fourth of the matches is a big achievement.
