In this match, one over bowled by Canadian captain Dilpreet Bajwa is under doubt. Besides, allegations of corruption in Cricket Canada are also being investigated. This decision has been taken after the release of a documentary by Canada’s government channel CBC. In this documentary, it has been claimed that Canadian cricket has broken ICC rules at domestic and international level.

ICC’s anti-corruption unit started investigation

According to a report by ESPN Cricinfo, the ICC’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) has started investigating allegations of corruption related to Canada Cricket. His eyes are especially fixed on the fifth over of New Zealand’s innings. That over was bowled by Dilpreet Bajwa for Canada. In that over, he bowled a no-ball, bowled wide on the leg side and gave away a total of 15 runs. Before Dilpreet, Canadian pacers Jaskaran Singh and Dillon Helliger had also bowled expensive overs. At the same time, spinner Saad Bin Zafar bowled the wicket maiden in the third over.

Investigation started after watching the documentary

Recently, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC)’s investigative program the ‘Fifth Estate’ made a 43-minute documentary titled ‘Corruption, Crime and Cricket’. This investigation has been started after the broadcast of this documentary. In this documentary, allegations have been made about internal affairs of the Canada Cricket Board, pressure in player selection and suspicious activities related to the match. The second investigation pertains to an old telephone recording in which then-coach Khurram Chauhan claimed that senior Cricket Canada board members were pressuring him to include certain players in the team.
